in honor of earth month . i thought it was a good idea to share ways to be more green . here are some activities you can try & some ideas that we incorporate in our everyday lives
. use reusable bags when going to the grocery store tip: fresh & easy gives bags away for free every so often- if you sign up to get coupons in the mail or they are 99 cents at most stores.
. recycle
. switch your cleaning products to more green versions- [i typically use most seventh generation products]
. instead of driving take a family bike ride or walk for an activity
. wash your clothes on cold only [this saves energy]
. create a clothes line to dry clothes outside instead of using dryer [have kids color their own clothespin & hang their own clothes as an activity]
. we use kitchen towels instead of wasting paper towels. [we only buy brown seventh generation paper towels]
. use cloth napkins [makes everyday living more fun too]
. visit your local farmers market & buy fresh organic produce [there are no chemical pesticides, fertilizers, drug & hormone treatments, & genetic alterations] tip: go when closing & get cheaper produce
. plant your own garden or fresh flowers [this is something your kids can help with]
. create little plant holders out of old egg shells
. get rid of all plastic storage & invest in glass ones tip: Costco has the best prices for glass storage
. for the summer use only reusable swim diaper instead of disposables
. go on a walk with your kids around the block & have them pick up leaves, flowers or rocks. bring home and create a craft using what they found
. we have invested in reusable baggies & sandwich holders instead of plastic baggies
do you have any green tips that you use in your everyday life?
